TOKA (Traditional Okinawan Karate Association) SEMINAR

Each year in August, the Traditional Okinawan Karate Association (or TOKA) hold a Seminar in Gatlinburg, TN. This year several of our Senseis and students had the opportunity to attend.

The weekend was spent learning kata techniques, self-defense techniques with a few “everyday” items, including an umbrella, and helpful leadership skills within the dojo.

Saturday evening also included a BBQ dinner with an awards presentation. Our own Sensei Ashleigh Sturgeon was promoted to her 3 rd Degree Black Belt by Sensei Charles Murray at the dinner. Ashleigh was also presented with the Outstanding Black Belt of the Year Award by the Traditional Okinawan Karate Association. Both are huge accomplishments!
